What you will be doing!

You will ensure that the IBM z/VM and z/OS systems and associated subsystems perform to optimum standards.

Did you know that Enterprise Technology Services supports state agency IT shops in developing innovative solutions aimed at automating the business operations that Oregonians rely on? The infrastructure components supported by ETS include local and wide area network connectivity, storage management, computer hosting, and disaster recovery. ETS customers fall into one of two categories: partners (consumers who rely exclusively on all services provided by ETS) and clients (consumers who rely on only selected ETS services).

Salary Explanation

The salary listed on this job posting is the base salary and consists of nine pay steps with the first step being $5,662 monthly and the ninth and highest pay step being $8,185 monthly. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be within this pay range.

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

To be considered for this position you must meet the following minimum qualifications (required skills):

(a) Seven (7) years of information systems experience working in a mainframe environment.

OR

(b) An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND five (5) years of information systems experience working in a mainframe environment.

OR

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience working in a mainframe environment.

OR

(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience working in a mainframe environment.

Requested Skills

We are also looking for candidates with a work history that demonstrates skill with the following:

  • Working knowledge of z/VM operating system and related system components.

  • Working knowledge of hypervisor or VMM.

  • Knowledge of z/OS operating system and related system components.

  • Knowledge in SMPE, HCD (IOCP and MVSCP gens), JES2, SDSF, SMS, operating system utilities, dumps, and traces.

  • Knowledge in CICS, DB2, IMS, and/or TCPIP.

  • Skilled in current technologies, system and process development methods, and the use of computing resources at all levels.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers and other agencies and the public.

  • Strong technical analytical skills in a data center environment.

  • The ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers.

  • Strong technical writing/documentation skills.

  • Strong Project Management skills.
